01

The plain-English history

Retail Link was the supplier workhorse for decades: an access ecosystem for reports, applications and operational data. Walmart later introduced Walmart Luminate as its modern insights ecosystem. Beginning in 2025, Walmart Luminate became Scintilla. People may still use all three names, so strong supplier professionals understand the era and context behind each one.

02

What matters in the job

Knowing where to click is not the differentiator. Employers need someone who can frame a question, select the right measure, validate the time period and item scope, and translate the result into a commercial decision.

  • Start with the business question
  • Confirm item, store, channel and date scope
  • Separate sales, inventory and customer behavior
  • End with an owner, action and expected result
03

A useful analysis pattern

Use the sequence Signal → Cause → Action. Example: in-stock declined after a modular reset. Validate store execution and distribution timing, isolate affected items and stores, then recommend the replenishment or execution action.

USE THIS IN AN INTERVIEW

I use retailer data to answer a defined business question. I validate scope first, find the signal, test likely causes and finish with a measurable recommendation.
